Who's your money on?

I just reserved a tee time for our house this Friday at Shoreline Golf Course. I don't think any of us have played there nor have practiced anytime recently, so it will be a good opportunity for our true natural talent and genius to shine through. The course layout is below:

I don't think I've lost any balls when hitting to an island green, but it's always a little nervewracking... can't wait till hole #4!

The last time we went to the range (maybe a couple months ago already now), Ayeh was definitely spanking the ball and is likely the early favorite to dominate. However, golf is as much a mental game as any sport that I know of and probably more frustrating, so there's always meltdown potential. :) If Seahang can put his game together, then his experience might be able to pull him through. Finally, since it's a measurement of pure genius and talent, Geraldoh is definitely capable of springing surprises. As for me? I think I'm resigned to mediocrity in all sports... in this case, have the 2nd most experience, arguably the 2nd most likely to be a headcase, and no comment on the pure genius aspect :)

It's too bad that no matter how much natural talent we have, it's a little too late in the game to turn pro. I'd be satisfied just looking like I crushed the ball.

At any rate, it should be a fun late afternoon out on the course. If we continue playing, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it turns into some sort of skins game. :)

Not to sandbag or anything, but I fully expect to be fourth best. And are you serious about an island green? Oh man, I'm dead. Better buy a case of balls.

By the way, my money's on Ayeh, if for no other reason than to put pressure on him, since he performs so well under those conditions.

Yeah, the 4th hole looks like it's over water from the diagram. Just start off with your crappy balls on that tee :) At least it's only 136 from the whites. I'm assuming we're playing from there and not the blues.

Good grief, the first hole is a 500 yarder. I'll be on in two.

Yeah, I'll be on in two balls, too.

Dammit, I don't wanna buy balls. Golf is so expensive. Can i just go to the driving range and get 50 balls from there?

I'm putting my money on SeaHang. SeaHang's knows how to win. Plus, if nothing else, it takes some pressure off of me :p

What's a good score for beginners, btw? 2 or 3 under par?

Balls are cheap.

And yeah, I think you should aim for 2 or 3 under par.

Since we always need to have seeds, here's my take:
1) Ayeh
2) Seahang
3) Myself
4) Gerald

Only reason Gerald is after me is when clarifying what he meant when he said he "doesn't know how to drive", he really meant "can't do anything except putt". Then again, that describes me most of the time, too...

i wish i could putt...

Do they give you a time limit on the course? Kind of like mini golf? If you don't make the hole in 7 then you pick up your ball and move on? :)

Actually, they do cap you on time! I'm so worried. :(

I think the limit on the 500-yard par-5 first hole is 15 minutes.

Dude, stop setting me up for failure. No way I deserve a seed in the upper half!

Talk about getting set up for failure. How am I the one seed? I've never played before.

So in other words, we all suck, and it's just about who sucks the least. Can't wait (groan).

I suppose I did watch Michelle Wie on Letterman last night, so that edge should be a bump of at least one ranking in the ladder.

totally; you're well-deserving of the 1 seed.

i just want to be in the bottom half :)

Are you guys selling tickets to this show? I think it'd be entertaining to be the peanut gallery. =)

hehe. i donno. i could call and ask. some courses are somewhat anal about having non-players in the group, but shouldn't be too bad at shoreline... i'll find out

Especially at 6pm.

Lisa, you gonna be around to entertain Drew until my round is over? You guys should just walk with us.

Yup - I'll be entertaining Drew until you guys are done with golf. It'd be fun to heckle you guys - can I drive a golf cart? =)

just confirmed with them that you can tag along... feel free to get a cart and help us search for balls in the unlikely event of a wayward shot :)

2. ayeh
3. gerald
4. hubes

nice, i agree. i get to go last off the first tee!

jeremy's saying "it'll be", meaning thats how we'll end up AFTER friday.

so, i really broke that club yesterday. crumpled that head real good. i dont think i should be one seed anymore. how many of you guys have broken a club?

If you didn't do it Happy Gilmore style, I'd agree. You're still one seed, and Jeremy's on crack. The real seedings, based on driving range performance:

1. Ayeh
2. Hpan
3. Chang
...
9. Gerald

im pretty sure the club was only dented on the bottom after my happy gilmore swing, because i put the club back in my bag and took out a different driver. then when i went back for the 1 wood, i heard it rattle a bit as i walked up to the tee. after i hit my first ball, it didnt rattle anymore. im guessing thats when it caved in and created the hole :p i hit the ball decently well, but it didnt quite have the same pop.

do your happy gilmore swing off the first tee today. lovin' it.

hey, you're now ahead of chang's fantasy football blog in number of comments. is 30 the highest total we've seen? Hehe, if i had posted this same post on Chang's he'd be winning. it's like deciding who to dump the queen on :p im giving you this win because i think chang will probably whoop on you later :p

Only because his blog updates are so infrequent relative to mine.

But regardless, this one was worthy of 30+ comments. Well played, Hpan. I concede the hole.
