Dallas, Round 1!

Wow, I'm becoming a Texas regular... after two trips to Houston, this past weekend was the first foray into the Big D. The town was... in many ways similar to Houston: sprawling, hot, and flat. But... Roothie was also there for me to visit and we celebrated our 4th dating anniversary. Pretty crazy, huh?

Roothie already blogged about the trip, so I'll just steal some of the pictures and add my own commentary.

I actually planned ahead for once and ordered some flowers ahead of time. Who knew that slickdeals could actually provide some more tips besides just electronics :)

Saturday was pretty action-packed as we started off with the Zoom-Zoom live event. Rooth and I went with her housemates and both of us got schooled in the MX-5 challenge, driving it way off of the target time of 31.5 seconds. I think we were both over 40... I guess we're just safe drivers that way. We also got to mill around in the RX-8, which has now become my new fleeting car of choice if I were to actually upgrade from my sweet Corolla:

The highlight of the event was supposed to be the redesigned MX-5 (aka Miata). It was alright, not as fun to drive as it seems in the commercials, but it was fun nonetheless:

For dinner, we took up Jer's recommendation to check out this fancy restaurant called Nana's. I think we went a little early because it started to get pretty bustling by the time we left. But it was nice to be there before it got too crowded and the food was definitely nice:

Sunday was pretty chill... got to go to the church that Rooth's been attending a few times and then just watched a lot of football. I pretty much anticipate some portion of the weekend of downtime as Ruth catches up on studying, so football season makes it easy to find something to do... just veg in front of Fox and CBS and watch football action. I finally got to watch Peyton Manning do something and help carry my team to victory. It was a good thing he finally brought it because if he had performed a little worse, then Neil Rackers would have been my top scorer of the year!

We grabbed dinner at a nice steakhouse before the weekend quickly came to an end :( I think Roothie was pretty sad too, because she was blogging about the weekend and wasn't too happy when I snapped a pic:

Hahahahha. I crack up every time I see that pic.

It was an awesome weekend, but it went by so quickly! I miss you already, Roothie!

I already congratulated you two in Rooth's blog, and since Hubert dominated me with Neil Rackers, no love here. :p
