Fantasy basketball champ!

I played in my first money league in fantasy sports this past basketball season and managed to barely squeak out a victory by one roto point! It seems as though hobbies that can lead to revenue generation are enticing to me (poker being the other one). Soon, I'll be playing video games with some monetary considerations involved.

The basketball league was a 12 team, 8 cat league (no TOs). I guess not that many people were paying attention (only half the league had > 20 moves) because my draft was only okay:
Marion, LBJ, Artest, Maggot, Payton, Bosh, Dampier, Jason Williams, Chandler, Radman, Marquis Daniels, and Mike James

By the end of the season, the only ones of those that were still helping me were Matrix, LBJ (but traded him for Dirk and Hill), and Bosh. I just somehow picked up random guys (Swift, Reggie Miller, Harpring, etc) that somehow kept filling up the stat sheet for me. Woohoo!

I guess since I rode him to success, here's a customary pic:

Fishy pics

This weekend, Ruth bought me the final fish for my aquarium. I now have 10 fish in there, which is kind of a lot for my aquarium size. They were getting feisty yesterday, chasing each other around and stuff. I might still get additional corals, but they're kind of expensive, so I'll probably just stick with what I've got for a while.

The new fish is a Flame Angel... he likes to swim around the bottom of the tank and here he is speeding past my hammer coral:

And the obligatory picture of the clown. I have another one too.. I should get a picture of them in the evening when they go and burrow into the hammer or torch. Here's one of them swimming near the candy cane coral:

Here's another character from Finding Nemo, although I didn't even notice that he was in it until I recently saw the DVD again. He's one of the guys in the dentists' fish tank.. it's a Royal Gramma swimming towards the torch coral:

And finally, a picture of the two different gobies I have... one is a Firefish. My original jumped out of the tank and died, probably because it got renamed to seahang and couldn't stand the new name. But I replaced him a few days later. The other is a Yellowheaded Goby that causes a lot of craziness because he constantly scoops up sand and lets it flow out of his gills all over my tank and corals. He's so destructive that I named him Logan, after Ruth's doggie. They're swimming in front of the brain and leather corals:

Now if I could only keep the tank clean....

Bay will break me?

2 posts in one week!!

I was convinced to run Bay to Breakers, which is less than a month away. I finally started running today and lasted only 20 minutes and ran 2 miles on the treadmill. Only 5.5 miles to go... I'm never going to make it.

I was going to say "How the mighty have fallen" since I used to run 5k in around the time I only managed 2 miles today, but I was terrible at track, so mighty would have been an overstatement. How about "the weak have gotten weaker"? I thought I'm supposed to be at my athletic prime in my mid-20s!?

SD wedding trip

I think I need to switch back to Blogger soon. I was getting guilt-tripped into abandoning my xanga to support the Blogger cause. We shall see.

I haven't updated in forever, although there have been various times I have thought about updating. I think I have some pictures of my aquarium, but haven't downloaded them yet.

I was in San Diego a few weekends ago for a wedding that already has a xanga post dedicated to it. In addition to the wedding itself, I also got the chanace to meet up with some high school friends that I hadn't seen since graduation, like almost 7 years ago. Again, I think I have pictures, but haven't downloaded them yet. (Hint: I NEED MY OWN FRIGGIN DIGITAL CAMERA).

It's always kind of neat meeting up with friends from back in the day that you may not have even known particularly well. It's hard to describe, but there's definitely a unique connection of sharing the process of "growing up" together. Then again, it might also be just be due to the fact that you generally only catch up for a few hours to a few days, so there isn't quite enough time to run out of things to talk about and get bored of each other. I find that most people are largely the same, which is somewhat reassuring. But it's also alarming when things you might have etched into your memory as "fact" from the end of high school being turned upside down. Like people you thought would be best/good friends forever having a falling out. I guess it's to be expected, but it's a little disconcerting that things can change so drastically from the pristine way that you may have remembered them.

Hrm. This post didn't really have a point, but just a collection of random thoughts. I think I'll add the pictures when I get home to make it more interesting.
